“But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners

before the LORD exceedingly.”  Genesis 13:13

+ Abomination of Abominations +

According to Holy Scripture, Sodomy is not an alternative life style but is an abomination. The practice or acceptance of this sin in society shows the depravity of the human heart and the absolute rejection of God’s Word. The more pagan a society becomes, the more removed they become to Biblical principles. The Bible stands forever as our absolute authority in reference to faith and practice. Sodomy is still an abomination today as it was from the beginning of human history. Sodomy is a wicked and vile sin against our creator and redeemer. Amen.

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind,

as with womankind: it is abomination.”

   Leviticus 18:22

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman,

both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be

put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”

   Leviticus 20:13

The only hope for the sodomite or any sinner is repentance and faith, Acts 20:21, “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Repentance is a vital part of the gospel message and the great commission (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 11:18; 19:4; 26:18-20).  In Acts 17:30-31, repentance is commanded by God, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” Repentance is an about-face, a permanent change of mind, accompanied with sorrow and regret, resulting in a change of life, as in 1 Thessalonians 1:9, “For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;”

This article will consider the subject of sodomy from three areas:

1.     Sodomy is a grievous sin.

2.     Sodomy is still an abomination.

3.     Sodomy must be repented of.

Sodomy is a Grievous Sin

In Genesis 13:13, Sodom was a wicked and vile city, “But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.” Sodom was given a warning and then destroyed because of this grievous sin (Genesis 18:20-22; 19:24-25; Luke 17:28-32; 2 Peter 2:6-9; Jude 7) Again, throughout the entire Bible, Sodom is spoken of in a bad way. It is a picture of depravity and a gage for wickedness.

In Deuteronomy 23:17-18, a sodomite is someone who practices sodomy. It is more than an inhabitant of Sodom, for it is used after the ancient city of Sodom was destroyed. In 1 Kings 14:24, there were sodomites in the land that God had given to the children of Israel, “And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.” In 1 Kings 15:11-12, King Asa removed the sodomites out of the land. Also, King Jehoshaphat and Josiah removed sodomites from the land under their reign (1 Kings 22:41-46; 2 Kings 22:2, 23:7). These three kings did that which was right in the sight of the Lord and experienced revival. They removed the sodomites who hindered revival.  No nation or society can experience the blessings of God while condoning this wicked practice. Sodomy is a vile sin against God, nature, and society. It is against God’s Holy Law to allow sodomy to exist.

Sodomy is an Abomination

According to Leviticus 18:22, sodomy is an abomination, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” This principle is repeated in Leviticus 20:13, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” All of Leviticus 18 deals with forbidden sexual activity such as incest, adultery, sodomy, and bestiality with only one reference to idolatry. In Ezekiel 16:48-50, judgment came upon Jerusalem for the same sin, which is called an abomination. Remember, this was God’s covenant people, and yet he judged them for their wickedness.

The word abomination means that which is detestable, vile, hateful, odious, despised, defiled, and to make sick. In other words, the sin of sodomy makes God sick. In the Bible, once something is said to be an abomination, it remains an abomination and will always be an abomination. God judges that which is an abomination. No one enters into the kingdom of God while practicing any abomination.

In the New Testament, the sin of Sodomy is mentioned in the following verses, Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Timothy 1:10 and Jude 7. Both testaments condemn sexual perversion and the sin of sodomy. In Romans 1:18-32, we see God’s judgment on those who reject God’s Word. This is one of the darkest catalogues of sin in the scriptures. God will judge a nation for sodomy and will judge it with sodomy. According to verses, 24-28, widespread sodomy in a society is a sign that God has given them up. Those who refuse to retain God in their mind will be given over to a reprobate mind in verse 28, “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” Again, the wrath of God is upon those who hold the truth in unrighteousness (vs. 18)

It is sad to see how sodomy has permeated every aspect of American society, including many churches. Sodomy is promoted in government, media, Hollywood, educational system, business, military, music industry, and religious institutions. Many political candidates run their campaigns by promoting sodomy; this is seen not only in the  democratic party but also in the republican party too.

The Republican National Convention in 2016 made history when nominating Donald J. Trump as their presidential candidate. Sodomite Peter Thiel, cofounder billionaire of PayPal, gave a speech and said, “I am proud to be gay, I am proud to be a republican.” The crowd gave him a standing ovation. This shows where America stands as a nation and is subject to the wrath of almighty God.

Sodomy Must Be Repented of

In 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. Sodomy is included in the list of those who are unrighteous by the words: effeminate and abusers of themselves with mankind. Also, God’s judgment is upon the sodomites in 1 Timothy 1:10 and Jude 7.

The only hope for the sodomite or any sinner is repentance and faith, Acts 20:21, “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Repentance is a vital part of the gospel message and the great commission (Acts 2:38, 3:19, 5:31, 11:18, 19:4, 26:18-20. In Acts 17:30-31, repentance is commanded by God, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” Repentance is an about-face, a permanent change of mind, accompanied with sorrow and regret, resulting in a change of life, as in 1 Thessalonians 1:9, “For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;. . .”

Conclusion:

The Lord Jesus Christ said in Luke 13:3,5 repent or perish. We must turn to God and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. No one can stay in the sin of sodomy and enter into God’s heaven; ye must be born again. John 3:5-7

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,

when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;”

  Acts 3:19
