Abortion

“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”

Psalms 127:3

+ What Is Abortion +

Abortion: The act of miscarrying or producing young before the natural time, or before the fetus is perfectly formed: to bring premature, and to terminate the pregnancy before time, to stop in the early stages.

Since the U. S. Supreme Court's 1973 abortion ruling, Roe versus Wade, it has been legal to abort unborn children anytime during the nine months of pregnancy.

Facts About Abortion

Over 50 million children have died at the hands of abortionists since the 1973 Roe versus Wade Supreme Court decision. There are more babies aborted each year in the United States than all the Americans who have died in the wars that have been fought in the history of this country.

For example:

Revolutionary War

about 25,000

Korean War

54,246

World War II

407,000

World War I

166,000

Civil War

498,000

Vietnam War

58,655

That is a total of a little over 1 million soldiers killed.

Also, the 50 million abortions since 1973 equals more than the population of 11 states: Minnesota, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, South  Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa. In New York State there were 100,000 thousand abortions performed legally, in just one year. Abortion is the leading cause of death in the United States.

One abortion takes place about every 20 seconds, that is, over 4,000 per day and about 1.5 million per year. Nearly one in every three babies in the United States is destroyed by abortion.

In 1986, I was told that Americans adopted three million cabbage patch dolls, and killed over 1.5 million babies.

Types of Abortion Methods Used in the United States

Suction: A tube inserted into the womb of the mother creates a suction which tears apart the body of the unborn child and then is sucked out of the womb. This method is normally used in the earlier stages of the pregnancy (during the first three months).

Saline Injection (salt poisoning): A large needle is inserted into the womb and a strong salt solution, which is toxic, is injected. This is injected into the amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. The baby then breathes in this solution and is poisoned, pickled, or burned to death. This is done during the fourth through seventh month of pregnancy.

Hysterotomy: It is very similar to a cesarean section, in which, through abdominal surgery, the baby is removed. Of course, the baby is alive when it is removed from the mother's womb and often fights for its life. It may cry and move its arms and legs, but the baby’s lungs are not developed enough to operate properly and after a period of time (usually hours), the baby dies there.

Dilation and Curettage (D&C): This is where a sharp curved knife is inserted into the womb and is used to cut up the baby in pieces and is then  separated from the womb. Someone, usually a nurse, has to reassemble the parts of the body back together to make sure no parts of the baby’s body were left in the mother.

Ru-486 Pill (mifeprex).

Morning after pill (an emergency contraception).

Did You Know?

Within four weeks, the baby’s heart is developed. Within five weeks, the baby’s ears and eyes are developed. Within eight weeks, the baby’s features are recognizably human. Within two months, there are brain waves, heartbeat, response to touch, recordable EKG, and sucks its thumb. Within three months, all body systems are functioning, breathes, digests, bowel movements, sleeps, wakes, and has fingerprints. Within four months the baby cries, and hears voices and within five months the baby can survive if born. Within seven months, the baby continues to grow in size and maturity.

In the movie, The Silent Scream, you can see the child struggle to stay alive.

In the Scriptures, God often gave children in answer to prayer, and caused the   barren to bear children (I Samuel 1:6-20; Genesis 21:1,2; Genesis 17:15; Genesis 29:31, 24; Judges 13:1-5; Luke 1:13; Galatians 1:15). God is the Creator and Giver of life, for it is God who opens the womb and allows conception (Genesis 29:33; 30:22; Ruth 4:13).

In discussing the subject of abortion, or any other subject, we must allow the Bible to be our final authority (KJV), for abortion is a moral problem. Killing of unborn babies is sin and according to Numbers 32:23, “…and be  sure your sin will find you out.”

Murder is a crime and is punishable by death according to the Scriptures. In Exodus 20:13, “Thou shalt not kill” is one of the 10 Commandments. Please consider the following passages: Genesis 9:5,6; Exodus 21:12; and Romans 13:1-6. According to Romans 13:6, it is the government’s job to enforce the law against murderers and not to condone their evil deeds (for the government acts as an agent for God).

Abortion is Murder

Abortion is just a nice name for murder! According to science and the Scriptures, life begins at conception. The baby is a living human being.

In Genesis 9:5-6 God says, “And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.” Now according to verse five, “your blood of your lives” shows that life begins at conception, for the unborn child has blood, and abortion is the shedding of that blood.

Exodus 21:12 - Under the law, if someone smote a man so that he dies, he shall be surely put to death; also, verses 22 and 23 demand the same penalty for injuring a mother or child. God requires the life of the man for the life of the fetus (baby). The guilty man is to be punished by the judge and her husband. If the mother or infant died, the death penalty was to be pronounced on the guilty man. Injury to an expecting mother will often cause a premature birth, and the baby, in some cases, may live and in other cases die.

Psalm 51:5 - “Behold I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Please note, the “I was shapen” was David in the womb, even before his body had taken shape. Also, “In sin did my mother conceive me,” for when conception took place, it was David who was conceived, so from the conception there was a person in whom later would be known as David. Now, if David’s mother had gotten an abortion, would it have been murder?

Psalms 139:13-16 - “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.” According to these passages, there is a great deal of information given about David being in the womb before birth. The verses describe David’s body being formed by God Almighty, for David was a person before his body was completely shaped in the womb.

Jeremiah 1:4-5 - “Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” God knew Jeremiah the prophet before birth while he was in his mother’s belly. God even knew his name whether his mother knew it or not. Jeremiah was set apart to be a prophet before birth. What if his mother had had an abortion?

Isaiah 49:1-2, 5; 44:2, 24 - Isaiah, from the womb, was mentioned by name, for God was preparing him before his birth to be a prophet. In Luke 1:15, 35-44, John the Baptist was a person from conception, at least God accounted it so. For God had all the details of John’s life planned at the time of his conception. Please note that God does not say in verse 44, the fetus leaped in her womb, but the babe leaped in her womb. The babe (John) responded to human emotions (joy).

The Greek word for babe here is brephos. This is the same word used to describe Jesus Christ as the babe lying in the manger in swaddling clothes (Luke 2:12, 16). This same word brephos is translated babe in I Peter 2:2, and in Acts 7:19, it is translated young child, and in II Timothy 3:15, it is translated child, and in Luke 18:15, it is translated as infant. The word is used to describe a child, whether born or unborn, or even a newborn.

The birth of Jesus Christ, according to Matthew 1:18, 20 and Luke 1:30-37, was the most important birth in history. It is clear that Jesus was a person before his body was formed in the womb of Mary. Please check John 1:1-2.

Now, what if Mary had gotten an abortion? Would that have been killing the Son of God, or just the removal of some tissue, muscle, or tumor?

Job 10:11 - Please check the personal pronoun, “Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh.” Clothed what?

Post Abortion Syndrome

A series of symptoms is experienced by women who have had a abortion (guilt, emptiness, grief, depression, etc.). There are serious psychological problems that are linked with those who get abortions. For every person has a conscience of right and wrong that is given to them by God Almighty (don’t sin against this conscience in killing your unborn child).

We must be aware of those who call evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20). It is clear that righteousness exalteth a nation (Proverbs 14:34), and blood defileth the land. If God doesn’t destroy this country (America), He owes Sodom and Gomorrha an apology, for we as a nation have committed a terrible crime in the killing of millions of unborn children.
